~The UCC Family~

[When you start your own K-blog or YouTube channel in Korea, you’re never more than six degrees of separation from the rest of us. Many of us are good friends online, and in real life. “UCC” is “user created content” and it’s the phrase Koreans use for blogging/vlogging & other online activities. Scope out some of my faves!]

Hyunwoo Sun– Hyunwoo is the man behind the magic at Talk To Me in Korean. He also has his own WEBSITE and YOUTUBE channel. (Twitter: @ever4one)

Johanne Miller- A gal of Filipino-Chinese descent who travels around Korea, taking snapshots of everything as she goes. She has a blog that you can read: Johanne Miller. (Twitter: @Nyxnalia)

Kerrilyn Strothard– A fellow Canuck, she spends her time globe-trotting, and making videos. She has her own website, and even a second YouTube channel. (Twitter: @expatkerri)

Kevin O’Shea– A Canuck who was in Korea, but now lives in Japan: busankevin. Has two separate YouTube channels: BusanKevin and jlandkev! (Twitter: @jlandkev)

koreaBANG– An informative blog that takes Korean news stories, translates them, and includes their translated comments. Always an interesting read: koreaBANG. (Twitter: @koreaBANG)

Lode Roels– In a past life, he was a radio host in Belgium, but now he’s living in Moncton, Canada. What’s it like seeing Canada through the eyes of an immigrant? Check out his blog: The Canada Log. (Twitter: @CanadaNewcomer)

Mary Tanner- A well-travelled American, Mary has captured many a locale with her camera, and maintains a site displaying her photographic efforts: Mary Tanner.

Matt- One of the more established blogs in Korea, Gusts of Popular Feelings looks at current and historical aspects of Korean society, and is thoroughly well-researched.

Matthew Richards- A former English teacher in Korea, from the UK. He maintains a tumblr and a Flikr full of absolutely stunning shots.

Matt Lee– Matt is a Korean who likes to share his love of food and comedy. Very friendly and all-around nice guy. Has a YouTube channel hereand another here! (Twitter: @Mattcastpro)

Michael Aronson– 마익흘 is a Yankee working the publishin’ industry in Korea. Has produced quite a few YouTube hits with his channelHe also maintains a website. (Twitter: @hdefined)

Noe Alonzo– Noe hails from Texas and is doing the EPIK thing. He has a blog, ROK On!, and a YouTube channel. (Twitter: @noealz)

Pierce Conran– Pierce has a blog dedicated to the Korean cinematic experience: Modern Korean Cinema. (Twitter: @pierceconran )

Daegu Friendship Community and Events- A group onFacebook dedicated to my former fair city. They also publish Daegu Compass.

Gmarket– Korea’s Amazon. You can find nearly anything you’d want: Gmarket.

Korean Embassy in Ottawa- Here is the English language version of the site: Embassy. Check with them for Visa regulations (for Canadians, obviously).
